Trailhead Adventures

Finding a campsite within Cuyahoga Valley National Park got harder a few years ago when the campsites at the Stanford House were shutdown. For the past few years I was under the impression that the Stanford House sites were the only camping options within Cuyahoga Valley National Park, until I discovered the sites at Ottawa Point, located in the northern portion of the park.

The Buckeye Trail is a 1,440-mile long hiking trail that circles the state, and a portion of this long trail cuts through Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Cleveland Metropark established some backcountry campsites at Ottawa Point that can be snagged by completing a free permit. The area contains (3) campsites, a food storage area, portable water area and bathrooms nearby.

The park has established a few rules for these sites hikers should know about ahead of time.
