My favorite map just got better! Meet the Updated Gaia Topo Map

As a long-time user and avid fan of Gaia’s maps and mobile app, I was happy to see the added enhancements to their Gaia Topo map. Readers will know I use the Gaia Topo map exclusively at Trailhead Adventures for identifying waypoints or routes. Readers are then able to save my maps for their own personal use.

Today Gaia announced an update to the Gaia Topo map that includes more than 150,000 miles of additional National Forest trails and roads, worldwide tree cover and relief shading, and point-to-point mileage markers that show distances between trail segments. These changes are in addition to a design and style overhaul of the topo map.

The new features are available on the web and mobile apps (Android and iOS) starting today. Disclaimer: older downloaded topo maps will need a fresh download before you can view the new features.
